Day 70 - Self Defense

It was a tragedy.  A beautiful college student, age 19, was murdered a mile from her home while working at a neighborhood swimming pool.  Within weeks afterward, a 2 hour course that would teach self-defense was in the works.  Now a national program, the T.A.K.E. Defense Training, supported by The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation, was established in 2004.  Over 40,000 women and girls have learned about self protection from Jill, an 8th Degree Black Belt instructor and martial arts expert.  My friend Esther and I volunteered to check in over 158 students who came to learn awareness, boundary setting, and combat skills.  We also had the pleasure of meeting Roger Kemp, Ali's father, whose presence at the class had a profound impact on everyone.
