Day 101 - JayDoc Rocks

For Kansas City's uninsured and underinsured there is an option for free healthcare on Monday and Wednesday evenings.  Since 2003, when a medical student began the JayDoc Free Clinic, over 2000 patients a year are treated by volunteering University of Kansas School of Medicine students and doctors.  JayDoc, one of a few student-run free clinics in the nation, is funded by the REACH Healthcare Foundation, other federal grants and private donations (like mine.)  Some of the services offered are specialty prevention clinics like diabetes and prenatal care, school physicals, lab tests, and HIV screening and counseling. This past week, JayDoc held JayRock, their 6th annual concert fundraiser, this one with Beatles impersonators and medical student Todd Crawford at the helm.  JayDoc, JayRoc, Jayhawk all put Kansas on the map!
